Motivational: Do You Persevere?

Hello readers, today I’m writing about perseverance. But first, I have this simple question for you all….. “Do you persevere?”
According to the dictionary, per-se-ver-ance means:

  1. Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success,
  2. Continuance in a state of grace leading finally to a state of glory or,
  3. Steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state etc., especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.
Perseverance is also known as persistence, tenacity, endurance, determination, insistence, doggedness, firmness, assertion etc.
To be successful in life, we all need to learn to persevere and tolerate people and issues.
That you are going through a bad phase of your life does not mean it won’t pass.

Seriously, see the brighter picture. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel but the important thing is can we actually wait till its end?
There’s a common saying that usually comes to my mind when facing difficulties in any aspect of my life and that is “good things don’t come easy”…. That is really true. The strange thing is; often times, difficulties are a sign to make us know that what we’re trying to do have a lot of rewards waiting for us at the end as long as we can hold on.

It however saddens my heart when I look around me and see people giving up on issues when they’re almost reaching their successes. I believe when you really want something, you need to have a very positive mind… it helps a lot in getting it.

Do you know we have people who gave up few minutes, hours or days to the end of their difficulties and as a result of this could not attain that success they longed for?
According to Charles H. Spurgeon; “By perseverance the snail reached the ark”, in other words, no matter how long it takes us, as long as we persist, we’d definitely get to our expected end. It may seem slow but there’s time for everything.

There’s an appointed time for each and every one of us to reach our set goals. Like one of my friends will say; “It’s not how far but how well”. That that childhood friend of yours is driving flashy cars while you are still unemployed does not mean you wouldn’t ride better cars too. You may check and see those you finished high school with going for their convocation ceremonies in the Higher Institutions while you are still sitting for JAMB, it seriously doesn’t mean your life is meaningless too.

Your mindset has a very important role to play in what you eventually become in life. Perseverance is a very important tool we can use to get to where we should.
I personally believe giving up is never an option no matter what.

Staying focused on your goal, listening to your inner mind, moving close to God, seeking His face and working on yourself all the time are keys to achieving success in life.
I’d also like to point out that when you are trying to achieve something and it seems to be taking forever, look for other things you can do during that waiting period that would still give you some sort of happiness and satisfaction. Work on yourself during this period and most importantly ensure you are happy.

Happiness comes from within us. We can only give it to ourselves. Do not depend on anyone to totally make you happy because they can only enhance that inner happiness which you are expected to have.

Learning to persevere goes a long way in helping you live a happy life. It will also help in making sure everyone around you is happy with you. They’d see that doggedness in you and would therefore love to move with you and you may be surprised these people you attract, may bring solutions to all the problems and difficulties you may be facing.

I love living a happy life, I believe difficulties are only stepping stones that lead to success and I believe the best friend/confidant we can have is God.

Therefore, to all my readers who may be facing one difficulty or the other, I don’t know why I am writing this message but I want you all to know (just as I’ve learnt) that perseverance leads us to keep our courage when confronted with adversity. It helps us to remain resolute in the face of great difficulties and not to lose heart.

In other words, maintain your courage and resolve, keep your spirits up, do not compromise, concede or surrender, remain steadfast, especially in the face of seemingly overwhelming problems and keep your head and chin held high.

Success is surely yours!

Cheers!
